UPDATED: 89-year-old killed in road collision

An elderly man, who died following a collision with a car in Alfreton has been named as 89-year-old Thomas Nicholls.

Mr Nicholls was of Storth Lane, South Normanton. His family did not wish to release a statement at this stage. 
Police are now appealing for witnesses to the fatal incident.

Mr Storth was on High Street in Alfreton, near to the Nationwide Building Society, when he came into collision with a Ford Fiesta at 9.45am on Thursday, February 20.

He was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham with serious head injuries and died as a result of those injuries on Saturday, February 22.

Officers from the collision investigations unit would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or the events leading up to it.
