Yobs vandalised and flooded a new toilet block in Nuthall leaving it covered in sewage with councillors branding those responsible as ‘mindless morons’.

The youths plastered toilet roll all over the walls and ceilings and blocked up the toilets and sinks before leaving the water running to flood the building.

Nuthall Parish Council vice-chairman Derek Burnett said £20,000 was recently spent on the new toilet block and those responsible should be banned from the park for life.

“It was absolutely flooded and there was sewage everywhere, backed up from the toilets. I think it’s disgusting. They should be banned from the park for life. They’re mindless morons.”

The incident happened on Saturday afternoon and the toilet block had to be closed until Tuesday.

It is the latest in a string of incidents at the park and councillors want it under control before a further £50,000 is spent on a new skate park and outdoor exercise equipment at the site next year.

Council clerk Sue Stack said: “It is essential that this is brought under control. If this carries on we’re not going to be able to leave the park open unsupervised. It’s ludicrous.”

A few weeks ago youths took bolts out of a piece of play equipment and set fire to it when the area was cordoned off.

They also tried to steal the park bike rack, and jubilee celebrations were ‘marred’ after decrations were stolen just six hours after they were put up.
