Drum roll please....the ten finalists for the Advertiser’s first-ever Specsavers Life Thru The Lens photographic competition can now be revealed.
Last summer we launched the competition in conjunction with the Ilkeston branch of Specsavers on Bath Street.
It was a venture into the unknown with neither party knowing just how well the competition would take off.
But take off it did in spectacular style with amateur photographers from around the area priming their digital cameras and camera phones.
We received dozens and dozens of entries, which flooded our email inbox.
It has been a tough task in narrowing down those entries to come up with our ten finalists you see here.
But when you consider the prize is a top digital camera worth hundreds of pounds, provided by Specsavers, time needed to be taken.
The next step will be for a team of judges to decide on their favourite shot and all the finalists will then be invited to a special presentation night at Specsavers where our first-ever winner will be crowned.
The date of the presentation will be confirmed when we have spoken to the finalists and asked them to check their diaries.
Advertiser editor Martin Hutton said: “First of all I would like to say thankyou to Specsavers, for its support, but most importantly the snappers of the area.
“I have been blown away by the quality of some of the images and it would be great if we could stage the competition again in the future.”
