A windturbine at Newthorpe Sewage Works is now up and running.
The 130 metre structure will help Severn Trent to generate around 5,000 megawatt hours of renewable energy every year, which is equivalent to supplying around 1,500 homes with power.
Winston was brought up to speed gradually.
It was named Winston by Awsworth Primary School as part of a competition held in the school.
To learn how a wind turbine – just like Winston – produces power, visit the Renewable UK website (http://www.renewableuk.com/en/renewable-energy/wind-energy/how-it-works.cfm) and to find out more about renewable energy at Severn Trent Water please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
