A memorial to commemorate the fallen in both the First and Second World Wars been given a facelift.
The memorial, which stands in Awsworth Cemetery at St Peter’s Church, was given a deep clean on Monday March 24.
The project was made possible by help from from Nottinghamshire County Council’s Local Improvement Scheme after Awsworth and Cossall History Society applied.
The memorial, registered among other cemetery monuments two years ago, was paid for collectively by village residents to commemorate servicemen without head stones in the cemetery.
County councillor Ken Rigby, who helped the society acquire help from the improvement scheme said: “I was very pleased to authorise this scheme, this memorial is a worthy remembrance to the people who made the ultimate sacrifice.”
