A ‘well supported’ event organised by Greasley Parish Council to commemorate the anniversary of the outbreak of World War One has raised more than £130, money which will be donated towards the Royal British Legion.
A coffee morning and exhibition was held at the Greasley Parish Hall to mark the 1914-1918 war, with an audio visual presentation that featured WWI battlegrounds and many of the victims listed on the parish roll of honour.
Visitors to the exhibition included Broxtowe MP Anna Soubry and the Mayor of Broxtowe, Councillor Stan Heptinstall.
A special remembrance board has been set up in the parish hall and the first person to pin a poppy to the display, as our photo shows, was Cllr Heptinstall. Another coffee morning and exhibition will be held at the parish hall on Saturday July 12 between 10am and 12 noon.
