a SCHEME to stop huge lorries rumbling though Larkfield Road in Nuthall was launched on Friday.
A 7.5 tonne weight restriction was introduced after an increase in the number of HGVs using the road as a short cut to and from industrial areas.
Volunteers will now be on the look out to catch drivers flouting the rules, and will pass the details on to Trading Standards Officers who will prosecute and issue fines of up to £1,000.
Several other lorry watch schemes have been launched across the county.
Following preliminary enforcement days in both Nuthall and Ravenshead near Mansfield, 26 potential breaches of weight restrictions are being investigated.
