The Met Office has issued a Yellow Warning of snow and ice for the East Midlands Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire valid from noon today to 12 noon tomorrow.
Outbreaks of sleet and snow, especially over higher ground, will slowly die out through Wednesday afternoon and evening but will leave the hazard of icy surfaces on Wednesday night.
The public should be aware of the continued risk of disruption to transport due to ice and snow.
Tuesday night and Wednesday morning’s sleet and snow will slowly die out through Wednesday afternoon and evening, perhaps bringing a further 2 to 4 cm in places to high ground above 150 metres before doing so.
However surfaces will remain cold, especially over higher ground and where snow is lying, with ice expected to become the main hazard overnight.
