Microchip your dog at free event

Dog owners can microchip their pets for free.

Broxtowe Borough Council will host the event at Basil Russell Park, Maple Drive, Nuthall, on Tuesday, September 10, between 10.30am and 1.30pm.

Last year the council collected 261 dogs, but only 16 were reunited with owners because of identification tags. In contrast, 112 dogs embedded with microchips were returned.

A total of 72 dogs were never reclaimed by their owners and went up for adoption at Babbington Rescue.

Owners do not need an appointment. Dogs must wear a collar and be on a lead.
