Eastwood MP Gloria De Piero quizzed David Cameron on the decision to withdraw school bus services during Prime Minister’s Question Time.
Ms De Piero told Mr Cameron she had been approached by parents in her constituency worried about the bus services being scrapped in Selston, Underwood and Bagthorpe.
She asked him last week: “What is the Prime Minister doing to ensure families are not subject to big fare hikes just to get their children to school?”’
And Mr Cameron replied: “It was one of the difficult decisions we took in the spending round – to make sure the per pupil funding in place is not going down.
“That meant taking difficult decisions elsewhere in the budget.”
But Ms De Piero said the Prime Minister did not properly address the question and she has now written to the Secretary of State to find out how widespread the issue is.
“I intend to keep up pressure on the Government because families should not have to worry about getting their kids to school,” she said.
Nottinghamshire County Council is axing £400,000 it spends on school bus services, resulting in some cancelled services.
