It looks as though spring has suddenly sprung upon us, and the refurbishments at the Eastwood People’s Initiative “epicentre” are nearly complete.
Thank you to Elite carpets of Eastwood, who made an excellent job of fitting new carpets upstairs, and to volunteers who have worked hard clearing, cleaning and decorating.
We now have a fully operational computer room with Wi-Fi and office facilities, this can be used for jobsearches and online applications, printing, photocopying and use of telephone.
The “quiet room”is available for people to have a quiet chat, fill in forms or sort out their business issues confidentially by phone. It is also used for counselling or group meetings and is available for hire at very reasonable rates.
Coffee bar facilities are in the kitchen, feel free to make a cup of tea, coffee etc, and biscuits are provided too. Smokers can use our back garden area.
The living room is really the hub, and is usually filled with a lively mix of people who share in conversation, advice and support. We have a “wish list” and a “freebie list” where people can give, receive or share items or skills. There is also a free box where people can donate clothing and small household items, any surplus goes to the Salvation Army, and especial thanks to Eve Wharmby for her good works.
Wednesday is Craft Morning downstairs, but jobseekers can still access the computer room to do their required activities online.
We will announce the date of our Open Day as soon as possible, and welcome any ideas people may have regarding group sessions or activities.
