Hazel Charlesworth was made the Mayor of Eastwood in a meeting this week. The councillor, previously deputy mayor, said she was pleased to be the town’s new mayor, and was looking forward to the challenges that lay ahead. “I am look forward to it and would like to see the council move into new accommodation some time over the next year.” Cllr Charlesworth also said she hoped to see the council working better as a team, with less bickering.
Outgoing Mayor Brian Griffin said the last year had been a ‘privilege’. He said: “I attended functions, school presentations, wedding anniversaries and 100th birthdays celebrations. “One of the highlights was being invited to the Olympic flame ceremony in Nottingham, but the smaller events were just as important to me.”
Ken Kenny was made Eastwood’ deputy mayor.
In Kimberley, Jim McDonald was voted in as chairman for the second year running, and Dave Nunn was voted in as vice chairman, also for the second year running.
