A new service has just been launched across Nottinghamshire which will make life easier for bereaved families and new parents.
The Tell Us Once service means that when someone registers a birth or death at one of the City or County Council register offices, government and local authority services will be notified about a change in their circumstances at the same time.
With people’s permission, the service notifies organisations on the family’s behalf. This saves them precious time and effort of having to contact several different services individually when they feel least like doing it.
More than 20 services and organisations will be included initially – everything from Blue Car Badges, Council Tax and Housing Benefit to Passport Services, DVLA, Child Benefit and state pensions. The service will also offer customers help with completing forms, collecting and returning bus passes, and signposting bereaved families to aftercare services.
