CHILDREN in care in Derbyshire are to receive cash boosts to help towards their future.
Derbyshire County Council was one of 17 councils picked to receive £30,000 to help care-leavers.
The cash is aimed at helping children in care get into jobs, education and training, including university.
The authority’s cabinet has also approved a further £1.11m over three years to expand the opportunities available through the Uni-fi scheme, including developing an e-portfolio to create networks between young people in care and pairing them with mentors.
Cllr Barry Lewis, cabinet member for young people, said: “We want to make sure all our children in care, and care-leavers, know they can set their minds to anything and achieve.”
