Parish council freezes tax

Greasley parish councillors have decided against increasing council tax in next year’s budget.

This means the parish precept part of residents’ council tax for a Band D property will remain £49.86p per year.

The parish council’s grant from Broxtowe Borough Council is being slashed by £26,000 in the next year’s budget.

Despite this, councillors agreed to freeze their portion of council tax.

The council will also continue its work on expanding and developing the Lifestyle gym at Greasley Sports and Community Centre in Newthorpe.

And it is planning a refurbishment programme for the Beauvale play area, which councillors hope will be used more by pupils at Greasley Beauvale Primary School.
