When it comes to helping good causes Ladbrokes Bookmakers employee Beryl Slater has winning ways.

For the past 13 years Beryl, 61, of Robin Hood Way, Eastwood, has championed various charities and with help from colleagues and punters at Ladbrokes in Eastwood, has raised more than £20,000.

The latest charity to benefit from Beryl’s fund-raising efforts is the British Heart Foundation which is set to receive a sum of £700. which has been raised by raffles, quizzes, Bonus Ball, and other initiatives at the betting shop.

As a token of appreciation to generous and supportive customers Beryl laid on a Christmas Party at which a prize draw was made with customer Nic Biondi winning the top prize of a Christmas hamper.

Ladbrokes employee Margaret Turner assisted by her mum Margaret Martin, played their parts by baking cakes and providing seasonal eats and treats for delighted customers.

Mrs Slater expressed her gratitude to everyone supporting the British Heart Foundation charity event. She said: “Our customers never fail us and once again they have dug deep to help us support another worthy cause.”
