OLD folk in Selston will not have to travel to access day care services in the village thanks to a new deal with a care home.
Nottinghamshire County Council announced plans to close Selston Day Care Centre last year, along with several others across the county.
The services would instead be provided at revamped centres – but critics in Selston feared this would be too far for people to travel.
Now pensioners will be able to access day care services at Wren Hall nursing home in Nottingham Road, Selston.
Day care services are currently provided at Selston Arts and Community College – but from April, Wren Hall will become an accredited provider for the county council.
Cllr Gail Turner said: “It was so important for our people to stay in Selston.”
