Petition to get barriers put back up

MORE than 100 people have signed a petition opposing the decision to remove barriers from a Kimberley pathway.

Residents in Edgwood Road were outraged when barriers were taken down, saying it would encourage youths on mini motos and there would be an accident because of the pathway’s blind corners.

At a Kimberley Town Council meeting last Thursday, Cllr Dot Saxton presented a petition of 102 signatures to try and get the barriers put back up.

The barriers were taken down at the request of one man on a mobility scooter. But residents said the action has put the lives of everybody else at risk.

Cllr Ken Rigby, who will present the petition to Nottinghamshire County Council, said officers were investigating installing an adjustable barrier that would let people on scooters through, but deter bikes.
