A PARK in Greasley is getting a £34,000 makeover.
The children’s play park behind Greasley Sports and Community Centre will be completely refurbished thanks to money from the developers of a Giltbrook housing development.
An amount is always awarded to parish councils when a housing development goes up, to spend in the community. And £34,000 has been handed to Greasley Parish Council following the opening of the Giltway development near Ikea.
Councillors plan to ask children at Greasley Beauvale Primary School what they would like to see in the park.
Council clerk Andrew Marshall said: “We decided it needed refurbishing. We will ask the school children and then come up with a scheme for modern equipment and improved safety surfacing.”
