A PLAYGROUP has been given £500 from a Nuthall councillor.
Cllr Philip Owen presented the cheque to staff at Watnall Pre-school Playgroup last week.
The money will be used to provide new toys including a dolls house, a play farm and floor mats for the equipment.
Supervisor Helen Smart said: “It’s great. £500 is a lot of money to us.
“Cllr Owen asked us to call him in the new financial year and said he might have more for us, so that was nice to hear.”
Cllr Owen represents Nuthall on Nottinghamshire County Council.
Last year more than 15 local groups and organisations received money from Cllr Owen’s allowance fund.
Watnall Pre-school Playgroup is charity run and funded from charity events such as Christmas and Easter fairs. It is currently full and has a waiting list to join.
