Prime Minister David
Cameron has praised the Eastwood and Kimberley Advertiser’s Feed Our Families food bank campaign.
Our Editor Martin Huttoncaught up with Mr Cameron when he visited at 10 Downing Street in London, where he explained about our campaign to help struggling families in Eastwood and Kimberley put food on the table this winter.
He took along a copy of the Advertiser to show the Prime Minister at a reception for editors at No 10.
Mr Cameron said our campaign fitted in with his ‘Big Society’ ethos of everyone helping each other.
Afterwards Martin said: “ I was keen to tell the PM about what we’re up to in Eastwood and Kimberley and how well our Feed Our Families campaign is going thanks to our readers.
“The appeal, which has seen us link up with the town’s food bank, is one of the most important campaigns I feel we have ever run.
“With your help we can make sure that families in Eastwood and Kimberley – and they may well be our neighbours and friends – who are struggling to even feed themselves, have a good Christmas.”
“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank readers who have donated to the cause. Anything you can give, no matter how small an amount, will help.
“If you can add an item or two to the weekly shop, or give the kitchen cupboards a clear out, that would be fantastic.”
