Arrests have been made and bikes seized after police launched a crack down on nuisance motorcyclists after complaints from the public.
This weekend and last officers were out targetting illegal bike owners.
Pc Kendall-Edwards, from the Cotmanhay and Shipley View Safer Neighbourhood Team, tweeted on Sunday: “Fantastic results in seizing bikes, identifying offenders. Great response and feedback from the public out walking.”
Last weekend three riders were each issued a Section 59 warning for riding on public land in the Boweswell Estate area.
Officers also spotted a man riding a quad bike dangerously on Beauvale Drive. He failed to stop and was reported for summons for the offences.
On Monday July 30 a bike was seized from a young man who was reported for dangerous driving and having no insurance. The bike was crushed.
Pc Andy Kendall-Edwards of Cotmanhay and Shipley View Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “I urge local residents to give as much information as possible when reporting this type of nuisance behaviour.
“We will seize bikes if they are being used illegally and causing alarm and distress to others, particularly when they are being ridden in a dangerous way.
“However, at times the information is quite limited, we need people to provide as many details as possible, location, description and times.”
Call 101 to report incidents.
