EASTWOOD’S Poppy Appeal for this year’s Remembrance Day was launched at a school in Eastwood this week.
The Priory Roman Catholic School was chosen for the launch after it raised more money than any other school in last year’s Poppy Appeal.
Poppy Appeal collectors Joan May and Iris Wright, who are both members of the Eastwood branch of the Royal British Legion, went along and sold the town’s first poppy.
Children were given flags to represent this year’s 90th anniversary of the legion.
Teachers and children have also put together a display of poppies on a wall in school for this year’s appeal.
