The Eastwood Poppy Appeal raised £13,630 this year.
The town’s branch of the Royal British Legion who spearheaded the fundraising revealed its delight at the total.
Branch members put collection boxes in all the local shops and stood selling poppies in Ikea, Morrisons and B&Q.
Poppy Appeal organiser Rita Restorick said: “The army cadets helped out with street collections on November 5 and 12 in Eastwood and a lot of shops in and around Eastwood had little collecting tins.
“We’re very pleased. We realise that times are hard at the moment, but people have been very generous.”
The British Legion stood at Morrisons and Ikea every day all day over the fortnight and spent four days at B&Q.
