Pram race to go ahead in Kimberley

The 34th annual pram race will take place in Kimberley on July 22.

There will be the usual fun fair, craft fair, street entertainment, live music and refreshments and trophies will be handed out for best pram, best fancy dress, fastest team, best overall, best mother and baby, and highest team collection.

The pram race began in July 1973, and until it stopped for a few years in 1999 it raised over £100,000 for local charities.

It all started when a group of Scouts needed to raise some money for a summer camp. They dressed as mothers and babies, pushed prams through town and raised £15 for their trip.
