Proposal in school assembly

A royal navy officer proposed to his girlfriend at an Eastwood school where she works as a teaching assistant.

Lft Jonathan proposed to his girlfriend Rebecca Brudzinska during an assembly at Brookyhill Leys Primary School.

The 25-year-old said he wanted to do something ‘different’ and ‘unconventional’ and chose the assembly to get down on one knee because his wife-to-be loves her job, and loves being at school.

“She really enjoys working at the school and I thought it would be a nice surprise. I wanted to do something different. Something memorable,” he said.

Jonathan had arranged the proposal with the headteacher and other staff, who told the pupils there was a ‘community guest’ coming in.

“I waited outside in my uniform and after the normal assembley they welcomed me in.

“They had sat Rebecca at the front so I went in and handed her flowers, which was a bit of a surprise for her I think!”

“She said obviously, which was lucky for me!”

The couple, who live in Ravenshead and have been together foe eight years, have not set a date yet, but Jonathan said the wedding would be a bit more conventional than the proposal.
