Pupils voted on to youth council

More than 26,000 youngsters have cast their votes to decide the line-up of the next Derbyshire Youth Council.

Results of Derbyshire County Council’s Big Vote elections were announced on Thursday.

Ilkeston’s representatives were confirmed as Ethan Greig for Bennerley Fields Specialist Speech and Language College, Jordan Stone for Kirk Hallam Community Technology and Sports College, Storme Presland for St John Houghton Catholic School and Yasmine Osborne for The Ormiston Enterprise Academy.

Cllr Barry Lewis, cabinet member for young people said: “I’m delighted that so many young people have become involved with the whole election process. I hope the new youth council enjoy their time in office.”
