THE owners of an Indian restaurant in Eastwood presented the town mayor with a cheque for over £500 after holding a charity night.

Syed Mukit and Micheal White, the proprietor and owner of Bombay Spice, hosted a charity night for Cllr Brian Griffin and his 50 guests offering free meals, but asking for charity donations.

Over £500 was raised and it was donated to Cllr Griffin’s chosen charities for his year in office – the Cleft Lip and Palate Association and the Samantha Dixon Brain Tumour Trust.

Cllr Griffin said: “The support of people in the community has been amazing and I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for their generosity and kindness in helping two such remarkable charities.

“I also want to thank Syed and Michael and the staff at Bombay Spice for putting the icing on my charity efforts over the year.”

Cllr Griffin will hand the Mayoral chain over at a town council meeting later this month. He has raised a total of £2,782 for his charities.
