Roundabout has made a difference

I felt I must write to say what a difference the new island has made at Watnall corner.

I used to travel this way to work and some evenings at approximately 5.30pm the queue of traffic trying to get out would tail back as far as the Moorgreen show ground and beyond, sometimes as far back as the motorway bridge.

I once mentioned this situation to a Greasley councillor and was told that a survey had been carried out at peak times and that the traffic flow was not bad.

I told him that I strongly disagreed with him.

Well I’m retired now but I still pass this way often and sometimes at peak traffic time and I must say it has made a very big difference.

The traffic flows easily and there doesn’t appear to be any problems with queuing anymore.

I say well done to whoever finally persuaded the ‘powers-that-be’ to make improvements to this junction.

I believe in giving praise when it’s needed
