School backs MUGA fight

A SCHOOL has jumped on board the campaign to keep the Multi Use Games Area in Newthorpe open and handed a petition into Greasley Parish Council last week.

Greasley Beauvale School submitted a petition, which represented signatures from all 350 pupils, to councillors at an annual meeting at the end of May.

Residents living near the games area, which is at the back of the sports centre in Dovecote Road, complained to Broxtowe Borough Council about the level of noise.

The council then issued parish councillors with a noise abatement notice which came in to force this week.

The notice means that if anybody complains, environmental health will investigate. Greasley Parish Council ha

s also collected 560 signatures on a separate petition across Eastwood to keep the MUGA open.
