KIDS at Brookhill Leys Primary School in Eastwood were celebrating last week after raising £126 for Cancer Research and being handed a trophy for winning a school football tournament.
Katie Wainwright and Jennifer Chung, aged 10, decided to host a charity cake sale because Katie’s mum has breast cancer.
“She wanted to do something to raise money for cancer research because of her mum. They co-ordinated it all themselves,” aid the office manager Liz Eyre.
The school football team was also celebrating after winning a regional tournament hosted by the Eastwood and District Primary School Association.
Hosted every year since 1993, Brookhill Leys has now won the trophy five times and this year beat Gilthill Primary School 4-1 in the final game.
