Spate of car theft in village

Burglars have stolen car keys at three properties in Brinsley and nicked off with the vehicles sat outside.

The break-ins have happened over the last month and at each address burglars have stole various electrical items as well as the cars.

The first incident was in Cordy Lane on June 6 between 6.30am and 6.20pm where burglars forced their way in through French doors at the back of the property.

On June 30 intruders got in through a kitchen window in Kings Drive between 1.30ama and 7.30am and stole two vehicles off the driveway.

And on July 2, burglars forced a side window in Church Lane sometime between 9.30am and 5.30pm.

Police are appealing for witnesses and are urging people to make sure keys are kept out of sight, and are not labelled with tags.

Cops are advising people to invest in mortice locks, make sure patio doors and French doors are fitted with top and bottom locks, always ensure windows near to flat roofs are locked, and always build boundary walls and fences wherever possible.
