Stike threat is averted

more strike action at Aldercar Community Language College was averted this week after talks between union leaders and school governors reopened.

The union for women teachers was set to take five more days of strike action this week after a teacher was made redundant last year.

But on Tuesday the union’s Dave Wilkinson said: “I met with the governors yesterday and they made an offer to withdraw the compulsory redundancy which triggered the recent strike action.”

The union said the dispute had the potential to be the longest strike seen for decades.
