A student from Eastwood is among several new authors chosen to be published in a new anthology released in Nottingham this week.

Kristian Elliott has had an excerpt from his novel ‘The Enigma of Thornwood’ selected to feature in ‘Restless Minds’-a collection of radical, diverse and exciting new writing which was launched yesterday evening (Wednesday).

The 22-year-old, of Queen’s Road North, recently completed a creative writing masters degree at Nottingham Trent University and his work will now appear alongside writing from published authors.

He said: “My experience on the creative writing course was an enjoyable learning curve and over the past year I’ve got to know a bit more about myself as a writer and found my voice.”

“Becoming an editor for ‘Restless Minds’ boosted my confidence and I feel comfortable in my writing ability.”

The writer of young adult fiction, fantasy, black comedies and horror hopes that two of the novels he is working on will be published in the future.

He would also like to get involved with writing screenplays for film and television.

‘Restless Minds’ is an anthology which contains a diverse selection of writing from students of all ages, with a variety of backgrounds including teaching, banking and poultry farming.

From the hilarious to the horrific, from off-roading to murder on the motorway, from free verse to young adult fiction, there is something in the book to suit all readers.

‘Restless Minds’ is available for £5.99 at Five Leaves Bookshop on Long Row, Nottingham.
