PUPILS from Selston Arts and Community College get set to begin work on a new eco-area in the village.

They will be responsible for transforming the area of land near the Tin Hat Centre on Chapel Road following a grant of £8,680 from Big Lottery Cash.

As well as helping to install viewing areas and a pond, they will also put up nest boxes and bat boxes.

There are also plans for a picnic area and wildlife trail.

Hi-tech gadgets including a webcam and remote weather station will be installed at the site.

Infant schoolchildren will also help plan the area and use it for their studies.
