A substance misuse worker from Sutton escaped a driving ban after she was caught speeding for the fourth time in three and a half years.

Vicky Roebuck, 41, of The Fieldings, admitted driving at 58mph in a 50mph zone on the A38 Sutton bypass on July 15, last year.

The court heard she had nine points on her license after three earlier convictions for speeding.

Ms Roebuck told the court she would be unable to continue in her job as a substance misuse worker for the NHS, if she was disqualified.

She said: “I work with young people over a large rural area in Newark and Sherwood and Bassetlaw and see them on a one-to-one basis.

“A very large part of my role depends upon building relationships.”

She said she suffered from a chronic illness which it made it difficult for her to use public transport and was also the part-time carer of her mother.

Deputy district judge Bridge said: “If someone knows they have nine points on their license, isn’t there a bit of an incentive not to commit further offences?”

He added three points to her license but did not disqualify her.

She was fined £125 and ordered her to pay a £30 victim surcharge and costs of £85.
