Surveyed over car parking

COUNCILLORS have asked residents in Kimberley for feedback on the latest proposals for car parking charges in Victoria Street.

Mary McGuckin, Richard Robinson and Andy Cooper surveyed the residents in Victoria Street and Newdigate Street to ask them what they thought of plans to reduce the charges down to £1 for the whole day.

Following a huge campaign by councillors to get the charges at Victoria Street scrapped altogether, Broxtowe Borough Council suggested introducing a flat rate of to £1.

But councillors are still not happy and want to give the council the residents’ survey results before a final decision is made.

Cllr Robinson said: “It’s been a nightmare right from the start. The roads are so clogged up and the car park is empty.”
