Tai chi teachers from Mansfield went to the origins of their craft – by spending three weeks with Chinese masters in the Far East.
Steve Johnson and Steve White, who teach at Oak Tree Leisure Centre, flew to China where they met the Grand Master Chen Zhenglei, the head of Chen-style tai chi.
They spent up to five hours a day training during their three-week stay.

Mr White said: “We quickly realised our fitness level needed to improve.

“We were training in temperatures in excess of 70F.”
