A new TK Maxx store is set to open on the Giltbrook Retail Park next week.
The clothes store will open next Thursday, February 20, and the first 500 customers through the doors at 9am will receive a £10 gift card.
News of the store opening brought mixed feelings among local councillors who said the opportunity and job prospects were a good thing, but the extra traffic was not.
Cllr Margaret Handley, who represents Giltbrook on Broxtowe Borough Council, said: “Any development like this is good. It will provide jobs and somewhere different for local people to go.
“But people need to be aware of the extra traffic it will cause and I have to think of the local residents living nearby. It’s already very busy there at weekends and on Bank Holidays.”
The chairman of Greasley Parish Council, Mick Bown, said it was a shame the store was not opening up in Eastwood itself.
“If it provides jobs for local people that’s helpful, but we could do with a clothes shop in Eastwood.”
The store will feature over 15,277 sq ft of this season’s fashion and accessories, as well as homeware.
TK Maxx buyers work direct with designers, negotiating deals to bring customers famous brands at a fraction of the normal price.
A typical TK Maxx store stocks an average of 50,000 items with daily deliveries bringing up to 10,000 new items to store every week.
Giltbrook store manager Kerry Mortimer said: “We are very excited to be opening up and bringing Nottingham shoppers big savings on all their favourite brands.”
