A special tribute to the fallen heroes of the Great War was held by Greasley Parish Council earlier this month.

This was the third of its fundraising coffee mornings which have raised £450 for the Royal British Legion and included a magnificent First World war exhibition with an impressive collection of of memorabilia.

The morning was held in Greasley Parish Hall and organised by chairman Margaret Handley.

Visitors included Don Chambers and Sonia Dring whose relatives were killed in the Great War, and the council had helped Sonia trace where her Great Uncle Matthew Clifton had fallen.
