UNISON members at Nottinghamshire Police have been holding a series of roadshows across Nottinghamshire as the Campaign against cutting 25 per cent of PCSOs continues to grow.

Branch Secretary, Ash Morley, said, “We have had amazing support from individuals and community groups across the Nottinghamshire from elected officials from Conservative; Labour; Lib Dem and Green parties.

“We are tremendously grateful for this and the acknowledgement that PCSOs have made such a fundamental positive difference to Nottinghamshire residents.

“To date, we have over 4,000 signatures on petitions and we believe this will only increase as people release the threat to communities.”

UNISON East Midlands Head of Police and Justice, Dave Ratchford, added, “This is an enormously serious situation that threatens both neighbourhood policing and intelligence gathering.

We have heard repeatedly from people who say it was an entirely different landscape in their communities before PCSOs starting developing their local policing presence.

There are genuine concerns that can be addressed here by the Commissioner seeking a Referendum to increase Council Tax to households by less than £5 per year.”

The Roadshow dates are: Monday 1st June Sutton Marketplace 9am to 12 midday; Tuesday 2 June Mansfield Marketplace 9am to 12 midday; Wednesday 3 June Newark Marketplace 9am to midday; Thursday 4 June Retford Marketplace 9am to midday; Friday 5 June Hucknall Marketplace 9am to midday; Saturday 6 June Market Square Nottingham 9am to midday.

Dave Ratchford will appear on the BBC’s Sunday Politics show in discussion with Glenis Willmott MEP and Mark Spencer MP this Sunday morning.

We are urging the public, community groups and businesses to support our campaign by attending these events or by contacting us at protectourpcsos@unisonnottspolice.org.uk so they can get petitions to sign for themselves and friends, family and neighbours.
