Unsung hero awards open

Unsung heroes are set to be honoured as nominations for Ripley Town Council’s Certificate of Merit Award are now open.

The council holds the awards every year to recognise the work done by many unsung voluntary workers in the Ripley, Ambergate and Heage areas.

Leader of the council, councillor Steve Freeborn, said: “The town council are anxious to encourage nominees of any age or any walk of life whether well known or not, whose notable voluntary service to the community or contribution to life is regarded as worthy of this award.”

Nominees must live in the town council area - Ripley, Heage, Nether Heage, Bullbridge, Street Lane or Ambergate.

However, councillors are not eligible.

Nomination forms are available from the town clerk and the closing date for nominations is Monday, November 20.

The forms can be obtained by post from the Town Clerk at the Town Hall, Ripley, DE5 3BT. Alternatively you can e-mail the Town Clerk by emailing clerktoripleytc@btconnect.com
