A CHARITY walk will take place next weekend in memory of a Selston teenager who died of Sudden Death Syndrome.
A group of about 40 people are walking from Selston to Mansfield on Saturday, October 8, in memory of Sarah Harrison who tragically died on Selston Recreation Ground last year.
The group of family and friends, who did the same walk last year and raised almost £3,000, will mark Sarah’s 19th birthday which would have been on October 6.
Sarah’s best friend Shannon Merrill said she hopes to raise just as much, if not more than last year.
“There’s no reason why we shouldn’t raise as much as last year. We’re also having a raffle this year so that should bump the total up,” she said.
The group, some in fancy dress, will meet on the recreation ground opposite the White Lion pub, near to where Sarah’s memorial tree is.
All the money raised will go to the Sudden Death Syndrome charity.
Sarah collapsed and died aged 18 as she was walking across the park to catch a bus to her boyfriend’s house.
