Devoted DH Lawrence fans can now begin their wedded bliss at the heritage centre after it became Nottinghamshire’s newest registration office.

The ceremony room at the centre in Eastwood has undergone a complete refurbishment and can be hired for weddings and civil partnership ceremonies on a Friday and Saturday.

Eastwood’s popular tourist attraction is set in parkland grounds which will offer an attractive background to couple’s wedding photographs.

Helen Scaman at the county council’s registration service, said the venue was already proving popular as they were receiving bookings for this year and next.

She added: “The DH Lawrence Heritage Centre is a dignified building with a strong historical connection.

“We are proud that our use of this wonderful historic building will help to secure its future as an asset to be enjoyed by local people and visitors to Nottinghamshire.”

The ceremony room can take up to 40 guests and there are additional options for catering, drinks and canapés and even themed weddings as the building also hosts a museum and an art gallery.

This makeover which was a joint venture by Broxtowe Borough Council and the county council has brought a light and modern feel to the room but has also retained the venue’s original features.
