YOU voted in your hundreds for your favourite local shop assistant – and this week we can reveal the winner is Cheryl Barnes from Iceland in Eastwood.
Gracious Cheryl said: “It’s brilliant. Absolutely fantastic. I’m over the moon about it.
“I’m just so pleased I’ve won and I want to thank everyone who voted for me.”
Cheryl said she started working at Iceland on May 19 last year, which is the same date the votes closed.
“I’d just celebrated my first anniversary with the company so I thought hopefully that’s a sign!” she said.
The shop assistant is now going to ring the four people who nominated her to offer them her personal thanks.
It was a close competition with only a handful of votes in it at the top.
Second place went to Dawn Lodziak, from B&Q, and third went to Garmin Chung from Brinsley Pharmacy.
Advertiser editor Peter Hemmett presented Cheryl with her top prize – a £50 voucher from Langley Mill superstore Asda.
It was a bumper Superserver competition this year with 15 shop assistants, from shops across our area battling it out for your votes.
