The Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance needs your help to keep this amazing service flying.
That is the rallying cry we are issuing to our readers as we get involved in a brand new charity campaign.
The Advertiser is teaming up with other Nottinghamshire papers in its stable — the Mansfield Chad, Ashfield Chad and Hucknall and Bulwell Dispatch — to drive the initiative.
We are all working with the life-saving service to launch an ambitous £300,000 appeal to help the flying paramedics stay in the air.
Charity chiefs say the cash will help save up to 300 lives across Nottinghamshire across 12 months and have described the target as ‘the biggest donation they will have ever received’.
And our fantastic campaign has already received plenty of support from people around the county whose lives have been saved by this incredible service.
Now we need you, our loyal readers, to dig deep and help us work towards making this ambitious appeal a success.
We are now urging businesses, residents and fundraising groups to continue their fantastic work and help give our community another massive boost.
Jim Vickrage, fundraiser for the service, described the life-changing campaign as tremendous news and said it would be ‘one of the biggest donations’ they had ever received.
“We try to keep costs down to a minimum and a lot of our staff are volunteers,” said Jim.
“When people donate money it is spent on what they want it to be spent on and that is saving lives. This campaign will give our service a massive boost and help us to support our new night flying operations. The money will help put the charity in a great position. We are mainly funded by public donations and we really need the support of people out their to help us do our job.
“As a service we are being called out more and more often and it is key that we have the necessary funding.”
Each mission costs Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance service £1,000. The service. which first began operations in Lincolnshire in April 1994, currently carries out in the region of 300 rescue operations in Nottinghamshire each year.
The charity is based at RAF Waddington, south of Lincoln, and unaffected by road congestion, country roads, or road works, the helicopter can reach any destination in Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire in just 19 minutes.
Donations can be made by cheque, made payable to LNAACT Chad campaign and sent to Unit 2 Chase Park, Daleside Road, Nottingham, NG2 4GT.
Card payments can be made by calling 01522 548 469 using Chad campaign as your reference.
