TWO successive wins and an unbeaten home record will accompany Eastwood Town as they aim to continue their FA Cup run this weekend.
Blue Square North side Harrogate Town will travel to Coronation Park on a reasonable run of form themselves having not lost in four outings, though the last three of those have been goalless draws.

Eastwood manager Paul Cox is now keen for his team to continue their excellent home record and enjoy the challenge of higher league opposition.

He said: “We have the best home form in our league and were delighted to get a home tie, but even so Harrogate are still favourites to win the match.

“We’re taking nothing for granted and Harrogate are a very good side who are third in their division, so the pressure is on them to come and beat us.”

Victory in this round not only generates £7,500 prize money but also the opportunity of Blue Square Premier opposition at the next stage, before Football League clubs enter in the first round proper.

There will also be an interesting battle in midfield where, if selected, twin brothers will come face to face in the shape of Eastwood’s Richard Dunning and his sibling Darren.

Cox praised his side after they twice overcame half-time deficits to beat first Nantwich Town on Saturday then Ashton United on Tuesday night.

Three goals in nine minutes saw Saturday’s game quickly turn on its head, but Cox said the first-half suggested it could happen.

“We had so many great chances to score but couldn’t convert them, which sums up our season in many ways,” he said.

“It was frustrating but we continued creating and playing some really good stuff and it paid off.”

A similar analysis followed for the Ashton game, with Cox citing the diminishing anxiety in his side in recent weeks as one of the reasons for their positive fightbacks.

He said: “In the past when faced with situations like these the players would have got anxious, but against Ashton as well that wasn’t evident.

“Everyone around the club generally seems to have relaxed more in recent weeks and the fans have been fantastic.
