EASTWOOD boxer Nicky Furness began his professional career with a victory at the Victoria Leisure Centre in Nottingham on Sunday.
Having had to wait several months for his debut following injuries and cancellations, Furness beat Nottingham’s Dennis Corpe on points after a tough bout.

Furness (pictured) said: “It was a very tough and hard fight for my first one but I managed to come out on top.

“Dennis is a very tidy boxer but tried to 'old man' me about a lot by holding the ropes and using his head, and he recieved quite a few warnings for head butts.”

Furness hopes to be back in the ring again soon as he aims to continue his impressive start to professional boxing.
