KIMBERLEY Institute moved to within seven points of the leading duo in the Notts Premier League after winning a low-scoring encounter at Wollaton on Saturday.
The hosts batted first and had Paul McMahon in fine form as he hit 75, accompanied in part by the unbeaten Jonathan Gulson with 44 not out.

Of the five wickets, two were run-outs, with Jon Shaw claiming two scalps and Matt Wright the other.

In
reply, Kimberley managed to reach Wollaton’s total with more than 12 overs to spare.

Michael Blatherwick top scored with 40, while Josh Mangan was unbeaten on 32 as Kimberley wrapped up the win.

The thirds struggled at home to Caunton, despite bowling out their opponents for 143.

Paul Newton was the star of the show as he took six wickets for just 16 runs, Caunton bowled out in 44.1 overs.

In reply though, Kimberley couldn’t get going, despite good innings from Ben Millington (43) and Neil Johnson (41). Caunton’s Rose was top bowler with 5 for 31 as the visitors were bowled out for 109.

The fourth XI also tasted defeat as they fell away at Chilwell.

Phil Allan was the main man for the hosts as they batted first, his 86 aided by Mike Croft’s 57 as they reached 201 for the loss of five wickets.

Kimberley had Marcus Beale in good form as he scored 65 in his side’s reply.

Peter Stewart was the main tormentor for Chilwell though as he took three wickets, Kimberley ending on 199-8, just unable to achieve the ten runs required in the final over.
