TWO more players hitched a ride on Eastwood Town's venture into the unknown this week as the summer transfer market got into full swing.
With clubs throughout Blue Square North already filling their squads with new faces, The Badgers joined in with the acquisition of midfielder Emeka Nwadike (pictured) and striker David Brown.
The latter was a loan player with Eastwood two seasons ago while contracted to Nottingham Forest, and has since played for Bradford City, Guiseley and FC Halifax Town.
Nwadike, 30, has had a number of clubs including Shrewsbury Town, Alfreton Town, Worcester City and most recently AFC Telford United.
Manager Paul Cox was delighted to have brought the pair to Coronation Park.
He said: "We had heard that Nwadike was thinking about playing his football a bit closer to his Derby home this season, so we went to watch him in Telford's two play-off semi-finals against Alfreton.
"He scored in the first leg and impressed John and I with his work rate and ability to get box to box. The player has a proven track record at this level of football having been in the higher echelons of the division for the last few years with Telford and Worcester.
"Brownie is one of the quickest forwards at this level. He leaves defenders for dead and is always going to be popular with the fans.
"He has the ability to chase lost causes with frightening pace, however, he is not the tallest of forwards and I believe this has prevented him breaking into the football league as a centre-forward.
"I have advised him to focus on developing himself as a winger, whether that be in a 4-3-3 or 4-4-2.
"I had the same situation with Lindon Meikle, who has come on leaps and bounds since moving to the wing.
"He's been very receptive to the idea which is a good sign and at only 20-years-old he's got time to develop in a new role rather than adapt after years as one type of player."
Meanwhile, Anton Foster's proposed move to Mansfield has hit the buffers after the two clubs failed to reach an agreement over how the transfer fee would be paid.
It is understood The Stags wanted to pay Eastwood in installments which The Badgers have rejected, and for the time being at least Foster will remain at Coronation Park.
Cox said: "We are not a selling club and there is always a balance between allowing a player to move to a higher level and what is best for the club.
"Therefore Fozzie is still an Eastwood player and I expect him to report for pre-season training, and as far as I am concerned the door is still open for Anton. He is an excellent player, but I need to speak to him about what he wants to do."
Cox added he hopes to have more players join The Badgers in the next week or so, including a player with good recent experience in the Football League.
